Professor Tuzinho, a native of Minas Gerias, Brazil, has more than fifteen years of experience training and teaching capoeira. He has spent a decade building a strong and energetic community of students in New York. His passion to keep the true art of capoeira alive is engrained in each student and is demonstrated through each individual student's strong foundation in all aspects of the art of capoeira: history, clean technique and musical ability. He has a unique training approach that gives each student critical thinking skills needed to excel. He teaches capoeira workshops and performs around the world as an ambassador for Brazilian culture.
Tuzinho created capoeira programs in two inner city schools in Brownsville and Flatbush Brooklyn, Arthur Sommers I.S. 252 and Ron Brown Academy. He has spent a decade building a strong and energetic community of students in the heart of New York City, Herald Square midtown area. His students performed capoeira in Ohio, California, Kentucky, Illinois, Missouri, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and Connecticut and all over New York City, including the famous Apollo Theater and John Jay College. He has also worked for community out reach programs through Sports and Arts in Schools, United Way Programs and the CHAMPS program.
In addition, Professor Tuzinho has appeared on the Manhattan Neighborhood Network, Caipirinha - Jinga Boogie Music Video, Ben macklin feel together music video, Fight Dance Sing Movie, rede tv capoeira documentary and performed at the center for institute for integrative nutrition, china club, and copacabana club, besides innumerous capoeira cultural events in united states such as los angeles, san francisco, santa cruz, san diego, saint louis, cincinnati, chicago, newark, princeton, bridgeport, stamford, new haven, meriden, hartford, west hartford, boston, and tijuana, mexico, são paulo, bahia and minas gerais, brasil.
Currently, Tuzinho teaches adults and children's capoeira classes at the Hartford Area where he lives with his wife Instrutora Tomate and daughter, who also train capoeira.
